SDG6 Startup of the week: Tapp Water

"Our mission is to create sustainable, affordable and convenient badass products that eliminate the need for bottled water. "

13.02.2020.

Starting in 2014 the founders of Tapp Water Magnus from Sweden and Alex from Germany decided to see if there was a better way. They tested over 50 filters on the market today and found that none of them were that great in terms of simplicity, cost, and function. They asked customers what they wanted and how much they were willing to pay. Finally, they spoke to some of the world's most renowned water scientists to understand how we could create a better solution.

Rocio Alcocer with a master in sustainable development and experienced data scientist Jeff Cardorelli joined as co-founders to make it happen.

“We created TAPP Water to solve this. We thoroughly tested the filters with hundreds of people to ensure that they agree. This included blind tests and installation tests as well as water institute analyses to make sure that the filters would match our high requirements. TAPP 2 is the world's first smart biodegradable water filter produced for Europe and North America that anyone can install and that provides clean and fresh water directly from the tap in a sustainable way.”

Screw it on in less than a minute and you’re up and running. This is the first generation and we’ve already proven higher customer satisfaction in terms of taste, easiness, and robustness.

“Since I installed TAPP I never have to think about water anymore. It’s just there, whether it’s for drinking, preparing coffee or washing fruit and vegetables.” – said one of the customers Mark Castley

But they are not stopping here. Tap Water team of water experts and advisers will continue to perfect the technology, product, design, and service over many years to come. They will also develop other products to give you cleaner and better-tasting water.

Who are we?

TAPP Water started out in Barcelona as a response to a specific need: access to tap water with fully guaranteed taste and quality.

We believe in the power of innovation driving the change of everyday habits to protect present and future generations.

Our mission is to create sustainable, affordable and convenient badass products that eliminate the need for bottled water.

Why do we do what we do?

Because in nature, water flows. It’s not bottled.

Furthermore...

Bottled water:

● Contains microplastics

● Releases toxins

● Weakens the immune system

● Pollutes the ecosystem

The solution: TAPP Water

The world’s most sustainable water filter.

● The most sustainable faucet water filter.

● A tap water filter is easy to install and use.

● Have access to pure water instantly, without interruptions, without complications, without leaving home, without harming the

Sustainable technology

Each TAPP 2 cartridge contains a block of activated carbon made from coconut shell that filters the water. This compound absorbs chemical, gas, metal, and organic elements with its extremely absorbent microscopic structure and a highly porous surface.

How does the filter work?

When water passes through the filter under pressure, contaminants are retained by the spherical particles of activated carbon.

Voila! Your water emerges filtered, clean and ready to drink!

Connected & Smart

At TAPP Water we are committed to making your life easier. The app lets you:

● Keep track of when you need to replace the filter

● See how much money you’re saving by drinking filtered instead of bottled water

● Calculate how many plastic bottles you have saved the planet

● See the reduction in your carbon footprint

● Find your nearest public drinking water fountain

● Request new cartridges and other products when needed

What is Gota a Gota?

Gota a Gota is an activity of cleaning public and natural spaces. TAPP Water is constantly raising awareness about the impact of consumption of disposable plastic.

This is one of the many initiatives promoted by us. Our goal is not only to collect trash and then recycle it but raising awareness about the impact of single-use plastic on the Mediterranean coast and worldwide. At the end of each event, we always have a surprise for all participants, from raffles to free yoga sessions.
